IAS and Ain Shams University Co-host China-Egypt Exchange Meeting

A China-Egypt exchange meeting, co-hosted by Institute for African Studies (IAS), GuangDong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), and Confucius Classroom, Ain Shams University, was held in Room 212, Institute of Education for International Students, GDUFS. Attending the meeting were Liu Jisen, Executive President of IAS, Teacher Ma, Teacher La, Teacher He from Confucius Classroom, as well as more than 30 students. Zhou Quan, a teacher of Institute of Education for International Students hosted the exchange meeting.

Professor Liu Introduced GDUFS and IAS.

Students and teachers from Confucius Classroom had a good command of Chinese, therefore, Professor Liu Jisen made a brief introduction of GDUFS and IAS in Chinese. He also interpreted the Golden Principles of BRI, namely "Consultation, Contribution and Shared Benefits", as well as President Xi's concept of "a community of common destiny". Taking Chinese enterprises' investment in Africa for example, Professor Liu concluded that China initiated the idea of "a community of common destiny" and made great efforts to put it into practice.

Professor Liu introduced colorful Chinese culture by means of Chinese folk songs.He performed a Yunnan folk song and a Huibei folk song, which inspired Egyptian students to show a talent. Some students sang a native song, while some students performed the Chinese song, The Moon Represents My Heart.

In Q&A section, Teacher Ma asked why China chose to promote the Belt and Road Initiative in Africa. Professor Liu answered the question from the perspective of Gradient Transfer Theory. He explained that in the past, the industry was transferred from Japan to Four Asian Tigers, then to Mainland China; and now the industry was being transferred from China to Southeast Asia, South Asia and Africa. Professor Liu maintained that China-Africa cooperation was in line with the law of the world economy, which would definitely promote a win-win development of China and Africa. He also pressed the point that China and Africa were a community of common interests and destiny.

Teacher Ma Made A Summary.

Professor Liu ended the meeting with a Qi Qin's song, Perhaps in the Winter, and he was looking forward to Egyptian teachers and students’ next visit to Guangzhou, to GDUFS, to IAS. So, when will they come again? Perhaps in the winter.
