To carry out Zhongshan Municipal International Friendship City Layout Planning Research commissioned by Zhongshan Municipal Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau, major members of the research team, Liu Jisen and Dong Junwu, took a one-day field trip in Zhongshan City. Sun Haiqing, Deputy Director of Zhongshan Municipal Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau, hosted the research symposium. Officials from related government departments, including Zhongshan Municipal Development and Reform Bureau, Science and Technology Bureau, Economy and Information Technology Bureau, Bureau of Commerce, and Culture, Radio and TV, Press and Publication Bureau, also attended the symposium.

The research mainly focused on Zhongshan City's economic resources, and the corresponding needs of economic and social development, the internationalization of economic development, as well as the internationalization of cultural characteristics. Representatives from each government departments made a introduction of the work related to the research and exchanged ideas with team members.

After the symposium, the research team paid a visit to Zhongyi Science and Technology Innovation Center.

As one of the most famous hometown of overseas Chinese, Zhongshan City has rich overseas Chinese resources. There are many successful cases in establishing friendship city relationship with the help of overseas Chinese.

In the afternoon, the research team listened to the report made by Liu Zhaoyan, Deputy Director of Work Committee of Southern District, Zhongshan City, and Chen Wenqu, Deputy Director of Social Affairs Bureau of Southern District, Zhongshan City, and had a knowledge of the protection work of overseas Chinese housing resources.

The research team also conducted an on-the-spot investigation in the overseas Chinese housing resources in Southern District, Zhongshan City.
