On June 17th, 2019 Annual Meeting of “Belt & Road” African Studies Alliance and International Forum of “‘Belt & Road’ Initiative and New Practice of China-Africa Cooperation” was held, and Egyptian Research Base of IAS was founded at Cairo University. Attending the unveiling ceremony were Huo Jiangtao, dean assistant of IAS and secretary general of Africa Guangdong Business Association, Xiongqian, senior researcher of IAS, Dr. Zhao Ming from International Business School of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, Wang Peizhong, director of Chinese Trade Center in Egypt, Bai Kecheng, chairman of Egyptian Federation of Chinese Students and Scholars, He Chaowei, CEO of Jiasheng Nig Ltd, Nigeria, Wang Enjie, Chinese dean of Confucius Institute at Cairo University, and Professor Li Habu, foreign dean of Confucius Institute at Cairo University.

The Egyptian research base marks the internationalization of scientific research of IAS. Up to now, IAS has already established research bases in Kenya, South Africa and Egypt, and the network of scientific research cooperation, covering the African continent, tends to form.
After the unveiling ceremony, Miss Huo Jiangtao had a conversation with the Chinese and foreign deans of Confucius Institute at Cairo University. They exchanged their ideas on how to well develop the research base and how to combine the efforts of governments, enterprises and research institutes.
Egypt is the presidency of the Council of the AU. The foundation of the Egyptian research base is of great strategic significance to the studies of Egypt, North Africa and its surrounding Arab States. According to the plan, after the foundation of the research base, an international cooperative research team will be formed to study the potential problems which may rise in China-Egypt cooperation, and to share scientific research information and achievements.
