On September 10th, a seminar on the impact of South African land expropriation on Chinese investment was co-hosted by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), Africa Guangdong Business Association (AGBA) and Association of Chinese Experts, Scholars and Engineers of Southern Africa. Mr. Wesley Douglas, member of South African Congress, senior consultant of South African government and senior researcher, was invited to deliver a keynote speech. Attending the seminar were Chen Yuejin, Vice President of AGBA, Huo Jiangtao, Vice President of AGBA, Liu Jisen, Executive President of IAS, GDUFS, Liang Lijun, Director of IAS, and Ji Fei, senior researcher of IAS.
Mr. Wesley talked about the future of China-Africa cooperation and exchanged ideas on the investment in Africa with attendees.

In his keynote speech, Mr. Wesley reviewed the history of South Africa's land expropriation and analyzed the reasons for the inequality of land ownership in South Africa, aiming to eliminate Chinese investors' worries. From Mr. Wesley's speech, it can be learned that the objective of South Africa's land expropriation is agricultural land. More than 70% of the land is owned by white people, however, only 5% of the land is developed. Expansive land is undeveloped, resulting in the backward development of South Africa's agriculture. South Africa's land expropriation has nothing to do with commercial land, therefore, it won't hinder Chinese investment.
