Scholars from Yenching Academy Visited IAS

On March 26, 2018, Mr. Oskar Galeev, Mr. Maurice Ludwig Gajan, Ms. Honorine Goueth-M'bele Ekine and Ms. Caroline Zhang, scholars from Yenching Academy of Peking University, visited the Institute for African Studies. Executive Vice President of IAS Mr. Liu Jisen received the guests.

Mr. Liu introduced the background, missions and advantages of the IAS to the scholars, with a specific focus on scientific research, personnel training and social service of the IAS. He demonstrated cooperation projects that the IAS is working on with Guangdong government departments, public organizations, enterprises and consulate-generals. Later, he also elaborated on the International Alliance for African Studies that the IAS is trying to establish.

The four visiting scholars described their respective academic backgrounds and research orientations. All of them asked questions about the IAS, concerning about issues such as the cooperation between the IAS and local African enterprises or institutions, the planning and operation of the “African Students’ Perspective on Guangzhou” project and the assistance provided to African students studying in Guangzhou. Mr. Liu answered all the above questions.

The meeting was fruitful; both of the two parties have obtained valuable information.
