Recently, the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement between Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) and CGCOC Group was signed in Guangzhou. Mr. Yang Aimin, Vice President of GDUFS and Mr. Sun Guoqiang, Vice President of CGCOC Group, signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties respectively. Fu Lang, Dean of Institute for African Studies, Liu Mo, President of African Manufacturing Initiative, Huang Bo, President of CGCOC Hong Kong Branch, and Hou Jianxiong, Chairman of Guangdong Shineng Group, witnessed the signing. The signing ceremony was hosted by Liu Jisen, Executive President of Institute for African Studies.

Mr. Yang Aimin expressed congratulations on the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between the two parties. Thinking highly of the work of Institute for African Studies (IAS), Mr. Yang Aimin expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. Fu Lang, Dean of IAS, for his contributions to the establishment and development of IAS. The strategic cooperation agreement designated IAS of GDUFS and Beijing Qingda Yuanhe Consulting Partnership as specific project partners. Mr. Yang Aimin put forward three suggestions on the cooperation. First, cooperation should be put into practice. Efforts should be made to promote cooperation by means of a specific program so that practical results can be acquired. Second, joint efforts should be made. Since CGCOC Group has great advantages in information collection channels, IAS can make use of it so as to do a good investigation on Africa. Third, a long-term cooperative relationship should be established. The two parties are supposed to make plans for future cooperation and strengthen cooperative relationship.

Mr. Sun Guoqiang, on behalf of CGCOC Group, expressed gratitude to GDUFS for its contributions to the signing of the cooperation agreement. He believes that CGCOC Group has abundant experience in economic planning, industry information, and political and commercial relations, since CGCOC Group has a long-time development in more than 20 countries in Africa; while IAS of GDUFS has a good knowledge of the situation and economic needs of Guangdong province. Based on two parties’ strengths, Mr. Sun expected the cooperation.

After the signing ceremony, Mr. Fu Lang issued letters of appointment for Hou Jianxiong and Wu Yiming, two newly appointed senior researchers of IAS.

Hou Jianxiong showed his willingness to provide fresh materials for future research, and determination to improve his research capabilities and make achievements in the research on business mode by combining theories and practical experience.
