Mr. Yu Hongjun Give Ideological and Political Lecture

On May 23rd, Mr. Yu Hongjun, former director of International Department, Central Committee of CPC, gave an ideological and political lecture on the first floor of the library of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). It’s co-hosted by IAS, Student Affair Office and Guangdong Institute for International Strategies. Attending the lecture were Mr. Fu Lang, dean of IAS, Mr. He Chuantian, vice president of GDUFS, Mr. Shang Jieqiang, deputy secretary general of Guangdong Institute for International Strategies, etc. Mr. Liu Jisen, executive president of IAS and director of Research Center for International Economic and Trade, host the lecture.

Before the lecture, Mr. He Chuantian issued a letter of appointment for visiting professor of GDUFS for Mr. Yu Hongjun.

Mr. Yu Hongjun gave a lecture with the topic of “New Changes in International Relations and New Layout of China's Diplomacy”, which was made of three parts. The first part spoke of the current new changes in international relations, which analyzed the connotations of the dramatic changes from the perspectives of the United States, the European Union, Russia, and China, Japan, China and India. The second part concerned the new layout of China’s diplomacy. Mr. Yu Hongjun stressed that we shall grasp the new concept of the era, the new concept of security and the new relationship among new powers, abide by the concept of developing in a peaceful and cooperative way, and strive to build a community with a shared future for mankind. The third part highlighted China's benign interaction with the world. Mr. Yu Hongjun believed that China shall uphold the policy of reform and opening up and develop in a peaceful way.

In Q&A section, students asked Mr. Yu Hongjun about China-US trade war and whether Thucydides's trap could be avoided and got expertise answers.
