2019 Academic Conference of “Belt & Road” African Studies Alliance Will Be Held in Ain Shams University

The year of 2019 marks the new beginning of China-Africa cooperation. The implementation of the outcomes of 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation are planned in this year. On March 26th to 30th, Prof. Liu Jisen, executive president of IAS, left for Egypt to participate in the preparatory work of the academic conference. As the vice chairman of the council of “Belt & Road” African Studies Alliance, Ain Shams University has been devoted to holding 2019 Academic Conference of “Belt & Road” African Studies Alliance since the foundation of the Alliance in October, 2018.

On March 28th, accompanied by Dr. Isla, Director of International Department of Ain Shams University, Prof. Liu exchanged his ideas on the preparations of the academic conference with the president of Ain Shams University. Planned to be held in mid-June, 2019, Academic Conference of “Belt & Road” African Studies Alliance will take “Belt & Road” Initiative and African people’s livelihood as its topic and explore the relation between eight major initiatives and African people’s livelihood. Over 200 attendees will be invited including representatives from original and new Alliance members, representatives from China-Egypt Business Association, enterprise representatives and officials from Chinese Embassy in Egypt. During the academic conference, the nameplate unveiling ceremony of Egyptian Research Base of Institute for African Studies, GDUFS, will be held.

Prof. Liu accepted the school badge from the president of Ain Shams University.

On March 27th, Prof. Liu had a talk with Dr. Isla and reached consensus on talent cultivation, research cooperation as well as information and achievements sharing.

Discussion

On March 29th, Prof. Liu investigated the Egyptian market of auto parts, lighting and building decoration materials. The landing of auto maintenance technician training in Egypt was preliminarily determined.

On March 28th, Prof. Liu visited Mr. Yang Shaogang, president of Confucius Classroom in Ain Shams University and learned the development of the education of Chinese culture in Egypt.

On March 30th, Prof. Liu attended a Chinese storytelling competition held by the Cairo Chinese Cultural Center.

Players narrated stories in a quite touching way, which left a deep impression on the audience.
